Here's my story...

My first real job after graduating from Wellesley College involved writing 25 profiles of the largest employers in Cambridge, Massachusetts for the Cambridge Chronicle. That task gave me a professional direction for life. I love interviewing people, learning new things, and sharing what I learn through writing.

Most of my work focuses on ways to improve the health of people and the planet, to increase happiness and to extend prosperity. This bio page includes some details on my clients for writing and editorial services. For more information on that score and for writing samples please pop over to the portfolio page.

Writing ‘round the world

When I left Cambridge, subsequent moves and travels for work took me to New York, Washington DC, Sweden, and the Middle East. Every job I took helped me learn more about writing and brought new opportunities to cover different subjects in varied formats.

Those jobs included serving as a public relations account executive for Rand Public Relations in NY…. as a Foreign Service Officer with the US Information Service, stationed in Washington and abroad…as a senior health editor at Boardroom Reports in NY….and as a senior editor in public affairs at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Speech writing is a specialty. I’ve written scores of speeches, including several for C-level executives and a US vice president. A Toastmaster for 12 years, my own speeches have won dozens of awards.

Freelancing for fun and profit

I freelance for diverse clients that have included corporations such as Marriott Management Services and Sodexho, among others. Nonprofits also use my services. I’ve written for Kaiser Permanente, Cleveland Clinic, and the American Lung Association, among many others.

Other clients include websites such as the Scientific American and the Health Behavior News Service….magazines such as Yoga Journal and Woman’s Day and professional journals such as the Journal of Oncology Practice. I also write books, my own and other people’s.
